Tony's Bread

"Tony’s Bread" was last year’s Arts-in-Education program, held at Chancellor-Livingston Elementary School in Rhinebeck with two 3rd Grade classes (total 40 students) The students built and painted props, sewed costumes, painted backdrops and set pieces, auditioned and were cast, rehearsed, memorized, sang, danced and took a beautiful well-deserved bow when completing three performances to full houses in one day - all in 10 days!

30 foot by 50 foot backdrop painted by 40 3rd-grade students at Rhinebeck's Elemantary School under the direction of Andres San Millan - an Italian Street. Interior scene. Students learn singing and dancing to original music. Arts-in-Education programs reach lots & lots of kids! Students are taught choreography. Students design, construct & paint props. Two actors in Italy. Students made all the hats to be worn in the show by studying the style of dress in Florence and creating an abstract expression of Italian dress.
Plays often cross time boundaries and connect past events in history to issues prevalent to today. Always involved is the stretch for students to play characters other than themselves (old people, inanimate objects, animals, etc.) Three girls play very old Italian spinsters.
